PARASPACE

VIDEO INSTALLATION

CONCEPTFor Paraspace, CHIKA and Andrea Wolf brought together artists who use digital tools to explore cyberspace, the human body and nature in the post-internet era. Through animation, 3D graphics, video and glitch, the artists build virtual scenes from the remains of the internet and consumer culture.

The exhibition imagines a collapsed space where the nature of subjects and landscapes is called into question, opening room to redefine them.

OPTOSONIC TEA

AUDIO-VISUAL PERFORMANCE

CONCEPTCHIKA performed live visuals in OptoSonic Tea @ the Parrish, an evening-length group improvisation by video and sound artists, commissioned for the Parrish Art Museum's Platform project. Visual artists performed in different spaces inside and outside the museum, while musicians and sound artists played spatialized works by composer Michael J. Schumacher. Voices and sounds from the performance became OptoSonic Echoes, an eight-channel sound installation at the museum's north entrance. She has also performed in OptoSonic Tea's 10th anniversary at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn, and in a church in Solothurn, Switzerland.

CHRONOS

AUDIO-VISUAL

CREDITVisuals: CHIKA
Original Sound: Zach Layton

CONCEPTMade with sound artist Zach Layton, CHRONOS pairs abstract flickering imagery with low-frequency sine waves to create rhythms for calm, meditative attention. It draws on EMDR, a method developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in the 1980s that uses repeated left-right eye movements.
