JIKU (時空, pronounced "jee-koo") means space-time in Japanese. It is a large-scale, site-specific live projection mapping performance. At LARVA in Guadalajara,
CHIKA transformed the theater's gray concrete façade in real time, moving from minimal geometric patterns to colorful compositions. For an hour, audiences gathered in the street, and she shaped the visuals in response to their reactions, bringing a quiet building to life.

CONCEPT
Commissioned for the 2012 Vimeo Festival + Awards in New York, the project had two parts. VFA Pong was an interactive video wall where visitors played the classic game Pong, using the festival's nominated videos as the game pieces. CHIKA also designed and built the game console, with buttons and a joystick for each player. At checkpoints around the venue, infrared cards tracked how participants moved through the festival, collecting data on the flow of the event.
The project was created as part of CHIKA's IAC Teaching and Research Fellowship at New York University.

CONCEPTeFIREWORKS was created for the Lunar New Year celebration at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2016, as part of CHIKA's fellowship at The Met MediaLab. Each time someone posted on Twitter with the hashtag #metevent, a virtual firework burst across the ceiling of the Met's Great Hall, in surprising colors and shapes. At the same time, each person's profile picture joined a growing crowd on a nearby screen, so the celebration grew with every post.

CONCEPTMet Stars was created for Court and Cosmos: The Great Age of the Seljuqs at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2016, as part of CHIKA's fellowship at The Met MediaLab.
During a Friday evening event, visitors made a wish on their smartphones, and a shooting star crossed the ceiling, a night sky over Isfahan, Iran, the historic heart of the Seljuq world.
