CONCEPT

SHIKAKU (pronounced "shee-kah-koo") takes its name from a Japanese sound shared by words meaning square (四角), vision (視覚), angle of view (視角), and blind spot (死角).

SHIKAKU04 is a six-channel, sound-reactive projection mapping installation. Projected light on paper responds in real time to its own sound, so light and sound move as one. It invites viewers to notice how light and shadow, form and perception, shift with where they stand.

SHIKAKU04 was developed as part of the SHIKAKU07 project during CHIKA's 2013 residency at Eyebeam, and shown at Harvestworks.
