CONCEPTGO (pronounced "goh") takes its name from a Japanese sound shared by words meaning five (五), self (吾), mutuality (互), pleasure (娯), and awakening (悟).
GO01 is the first work in the series. It began during the pandemic, when a physical installation could not be shown for the NARS Foundation Satellite Residency on Governors Island. With visits limited, CHIKA turned to augmented reality as a way to bring the work to people wherever they were. GO01 places virtual sculptures, developed from a straw structural prototype and based on the five Platonic solids, at five outdoor sites. Each site has its own sculpture, revealed by scanning a QR code, so visitors see the forms in the landscape only through their phones. The artwork no longer waits in a gallery; it meets people where they are.
